Work-in-Progress
A filmmaker re-examines the latter life of her great-grandfather, a Caribbean immigrant living in the turmoil of the South Bronx in the 1970s/80s and interweaves it with her experience of her first trip to his birth country, Antigua and Barbuda in the aftermath of the destruction of Hurricane Irma, 35 years later. The film reveals how neoliberal policies and disaster capitalism have affected not only her memory of her family’s past, but also her speculation about it’s future.
