Work-in-Progress
Follow filmmaker, M. Asli Dukan as she travels across time and space to tell the story of how a diverse group of writers and artists created an informal network that is changing how Black people imagine themselves and are seen, in the past, the present and the future. From science fiction, speculative fiction and Afrofuturism, to horror and fantasy, this documentary also explores nearly 150 years of Black speculative thought in literature and comics through the perspective of Black people and Black history. Invisible Universe ultimately reveals how this new generation of Black creators have used speculation as an artistic form of struggle to envision their transformed worlds and liberated realities.
